In 1972, a group of concerned parents of children with disabilities organized Northwest Child Development Center presently know as Children's Resource Center. In 1978, the Wyoming Legislature allocated funding through the Department of Health to provide special education and related services to children with disabilities between the ages of birth through five. At the present time, there are 42 Developmental Preschool Programs delivering special services through the state of Wyoming. Children's Resource Center is Region 1 of the Wyoming Developmental Preschool Program. CRC covers four counties, Big Horn, Washakie, Hot Springs, and Park. Six program sites are in operation in Lovell, Powell, Cody, Basin, Worland, and Thermopolis. Children's Resource Center complies with Federal Statute and Wyoming Rules and Regulations through Part B and Part C mandates. Services are divided into two program components. One Children's Resource Center is nationally accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Teachers and therapists are professional, licensed and/or certified in their field of expertise. The services which Children's Resource Center provides are at no cost to the families. CRC receives funding from the following sources: State of Wyoming Division of Developmental Disabilities; Part C Federal Funds; Title VI-B Federal Funds, and a 10% local match from sources such as non-disabled preschool tuition, city councils, county commissioners, donations/contributions, fund-raising activities and Child Find screenings.
